About David Teenan
An experienced ophthalmic surgeon, Dr David Teenan has performed more than 41,000 procedures including LASIK and LASEK, with specialist interests in cataract and refractive surgery, cornea and external diseases. He is the UK Medical Director of the Optical Express International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) and is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Ireland Medical Council (IMC).
Dr David Teenan is a fully qualified trained Ophthalmologist who has undergone additional specialist training in refractive surgery and is a full time ophthalmic surgeon with Optical Express. He is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Irish College of Ophthalmology. Twice every year, Dr David Teenan attends IMAB Conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world's most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Dr Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy and Dr Jan Venter, a world leading ophthalmic surgeon.
Dr David Teenan graduated from the University of Dundee in 1992 before returning to Glasgow to start his medical career. His first ophthalmology post was at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and from there he moved to Ayrshire to complete his basic surgical training. He then completed his higher surgical training in Wales before returning to Glasgow for a Corneal and External Diseases Fellowship at Gartnavel General Hospital. Following completion of his training, Dr David Teenan worked as a consultant Ophthalmologist in Glasgow, Cardiff, and Ayrshire and is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons.
His dedication to his profession and patients is evident from his clinical experience and continued attendance at seminars and conferences as both speaker and delegate.
