No more squinting at small print – lens surgery could be the perfect solution.
After the age of 40, we lose our ability to focus on objects close-up, especially small print.
This is presbyopia – an age-related condition which affects everyone at some point, even people who have never previously had problems with their eyesight. It causes blurry near vision, and it can lead to eyestrain and headaches.
You will be greeted by your surgeon and surgery team at your Optical Express treatment clinic, who will discuss your treatment plan with you and answer any questions that you might have. The surgery team will use the latest state-of-the-art technology to capture detailed measurements of your eyes, further preparing you for surgery.
Our treatment support optometrist will record your vision with and without spectacles, and perform an assessment of your eye health. Eye drops will be instilled, so that your eye is comfortable during surgery.
An anaesthetist will provide you with local anaesthetic to ensure you are comfortable during surgery. They will offer you a light sedation, which will relax you during the procedure.
Your surgeon will gently create a small opening on the front surface of the eye to allow access to the natural lens.
The contents of the natural lens bag are carefully removed before the premium synthetic lens is put in place.
Your surgeon will apply eye drops and instructions on how to use them. They will cover your eye with a bandage, which will keep it clean and protected to assist the healing process.
Be sure to arrange transportation home in advance of your surgery, as you shouldn't drive after the procedure has been completed. You can go home to rest after treatment, returning for your second lens surgery if required.
During the first 12 months following your surgery, you will attend routine follow up appointments as directed by your optometrist and surgeon. We recommend that you attend annual or bi-annual eye examinations to make sure your eyes remain in perfect health.
