BSc (Hons) MCOptom, DipTP (IP)
Abha graduated from Manchester University in 2001 with a First Class
Honours degree in Optometry and Neuroscience. Prior to joining Optical Express, she worked as a resident and locum Optometrist in various different locations including in New Zealand.
Abha joined Optical Express in 2005 after developing an interest in
working in the refractive surgery pathway. She has a wide range of
experience within Optical Express ranging from mentoring and training a large number of Optometrists on how to do pre and post-op refractive surgery consultations to working as a surgery support Optometrist.
As a surgery support Optometrist, Abha assists our Ophthalmic Surgeons by preparing patients for their laser eye, cataract and lens replacement surgery procedures.
Abha is also an Optometry Development Manager with Optical Express. Her favourite part of her role is how varied it can be where no two days are the same. She enjoys working alongside different professionals such as surgery team members, Surgeons and Optometrists and the wide range of knowledge, experience and shared best practise that can bring alongside it.
As one of our Senior Optometrists Abha also helps the clinician teams
with various queries as they come through the Clinical Second Opinions Hotline. Completing her Independent Prescribing qualification enables Abha to manage many eye conditions at a community level without the need to refer her patients to visit an eye doctor at hospital.
Abha has also been a visiting lecturer for the City University London
teaching Optometry students. This opportunity allowed her to provide her expert knowledge and clinical experience to inspire new and upcoming Optometrists.
