Experienced optometrist Giles graduated from Aston University in 1994, and achieved his master’s degree in Optometry in 1999 at Bradford University.
Giles joined Optical Express in 2000 and has been practicing refractive optometry over the last 20 years. He trains newly qualified optometrists in the refractive pathway and patient journey at Optical Express showcasing his range of skills and knowledge in these specialist areas of optometry. Due to his extensive knowledge Giles works as part of the Clinical Services team. Answering calls and questions that come through, focusing on his expert knowledge to offer support when it’s needed.
In 2019, Giles qualified from the Independent Prescribing course and he is now able to manage a wide range of eye conditions without the need to refer patients to see a doctor in a hospital setting.
Currently based at our state of the art clinic in Manchester, Giles has
attended the Manchester University as a visiting lecturer and has recently presented at the University of Highlands and Islands in Inverness. He has even been on TV and is proud to have been involved in testing the vision of the Manchester City Football team, and showed his patience when he spent 90 minutes showing Wayne Rooney how to insert and remove contacts lenses.
Giles has commented that even after all these years he still finds his job satisfying especially following the patient through their refractive journey from the initial consultation right through to discharge.
