Laura Ahmadian

Optometrist Laura is a highly skilled and focussed professional with over 18 years’ clinical and commercial experience.

Laura obtained her BSc (Hons) in Optometry from the University of Bradford in 2005 and joined Optical Express in 2010, gaining a wealth of knowledge in refractive surgery.

Highly experienced in the refractive surgery pathway, Laura is a key member of the expert multidisciplinary team in our Newcastle clinic. Day to day Laura diagnoses and treats a full range of eye diseases as well as performing pre and post-operative consultations for patients receiving refractive surgery.

In 2018, Laura gained her Independent Prescribing (IP) certificate, enabling her to manage many eye conditions at community level without the need to refer patients to the hospital eye service. 

Last year Laura completed her Professional Certificate in Glaucoma from the University of Bradford and is now studying for her higher certificate. This certificate expands Laura's knowledge to not only just detect Glaucoma but provides her with a better understanding of how glaucoma develops and it's surgical and pharmacological management.

Laura is also an active Member of the College of Optometrists and a Member of British Society for Refractive Surgery which ensures she is keep up to date with the latest clinical management guidelines and research in refractive surgery. This ensures she is able to recommend the most appropriate visual solution to her patients.
