As a devoted and accomplished eye surgeon with over 20 years of experience in ophthalmic care, Mr Rajesh Deshmukh is a leader in his field – proficient in cataract and refractive surgery, he also specialises in the treatment of macular degeneration, vein occlusion and diabetic retinopathy.
Having passed his Advanced Senior Fellowship in the field of cataract surgery and vision correction from Moorfields Eye Hospital London, Mr. Deshmukh completed certification in laser and refractive surgery from Royal College of Ophthalmology and Post Graduate Diploma in cataract and refractive surgery from Ulster University. He has returned to the world-renowned Moorfields Hospital as a Consultant Eye Surgeon and is amongst few who practice and teach Manual small incision cataract surgery (MSICS) and Extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) procedure in the UK to deal with very complex cataracts.
His commitment transcends borders, with time spent working as a facilitator for the World Health Organisation (WHO) where he trained 40 General Ophthalmologists and 45 allied health care professionals in screening, grading and treatment of diabetic retinopathy and setting up of referral pathway for the National Health Programme in Sultanate of Oman.
An active contributor to the learning and development of his peers, Mr Deshmukh is an expert Cataract Surgeon and has supervised and trained many Ophthalmologists, working closely to advance surgical skills since 2013. He has contributed to many esteemed, high impact peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences globally and continues to positively influence the world of ophthalmic health through his work.
