Optical Express have been a regular supporter of the British Heart Foundation over the last thirty years. Last month our teams from our Cumbernauld and Glasgow locations were fundraising for the British Heart Foundation. Staff dressed down and organised a raffle, raising £283.16 for the charity.
Each month, our colleagues take part in fundraising activity and this forms part of a bigger picture when it comes to charitable giving at Optical Express. Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Heather Suttie said, “Here at Optical Express we’ve nurtured a generous culture and we all look forward to monthly dress down days and supporting third sector organisations. Our staff voted on the causes and charities closest to them for 2020, and the British Heart Foundation was our chosen charity for February. Heart and circulatory diseases still kill 1 in 4 in the UK and the British Heart Foundation’s commitment is to research which includes heart disease research, circulatory conditions research and risk factor research.”
The latest fundraising campaign from the charity includes a TV and You Tube ad titled ‘Swear Jar’ where we see a young boy, Billy with his grandad. Billy is going to great lengths to try and get his family to swear by setting up a series of pranks around the house and it’s all for a very good cause. He is fundraising to help beat circulatory diseases like vascular dementia. The charity have produced a comprehensive guide to understanding vascular dementia and you can download this here.
British Heart Foundation Fundraising Manager Laura Stockwell, said “Thank you so much to the staff of Optical Express for supporting BHF Scotland! We want to beat heartbreak forever from Heart Disease, Stroke, Vascular Dementia and Diabetes. Thank you so much for supporting our research - some of which takes place very close to your offices at The University of Glasgow! Thanks for helping us beat heartbreak forever.”
In 2020, at Optical Express we’re looking forward to continuing to support the STV Children’s Appeal, Race Against Dementia and the Marine Conservation Society, and our staff from all areas of the business will continue to fundraise for those causes close to their hearts, in their local areas.
