Optical Express colleagues in its Glasgow office recently showed off their pancake flipping skills, all in the name of charity. The team at 200 St Vincent Street were delighted to take part in Pancake Day themed activities to raise money for Fares 4 Free, a charity that offers a free transport service to help veterans attend appointments to access support services.
Bold colleagues donated to take part in a pancake flipping contest, whilst others contributed cash to decorate their own culinary treats with a variety of toppings. A raffle was also held to help raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity. The team raised £125.05 on the day.
Fares 4 Free asks taxi drivers and companies to help veterans and their families’ access services and combat social isolation. Often, organisations provide befriending services, grants, and assistance to our veterans. However, there are times when veterans can’t afford to travel or are unable to cope with travelling on public transport. Sometimes, the thing that helps them most is a friendly face and a lift – and that’s where Fares 4 Free comes in to help.
Optical Express also supported the charity last year when they visited our Contact Centre in Glasgow. A range of veterans aged from early twenties to over 90 years old came in to tell us their personal stories and describe how the support from Fares 4 Free has made a huge difference to their lives.
