A recent study has shown that bilateral wavefront-guided LASIK gives patients not only excellent visual outcomes, but high rates of satisfaction too.
Their satisfaction was measured through the Refractive Status and Vision Profile questionnaire, which provides information on the quality of life patients report after treatment.
Edward E. Manche, co-author of the study which was reported in The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, is quoted as saying the study found that patients responded that their quality of life had ‘improved significantly’, with patients noting a decrease in issues with corrective lenses and improvements in visual function and perception.
The prospective cohort study included 84 eyes of 42 patients who underwent bilateral wavefront-guided LASIK using the Visx Star S4 IR excimer laser system (Johnson & Johnson Vision) performed by Manche at the Stanford Eye Laser Center.
This very same Johnson & Johnson iDesign technology is used at all Optical Express laser vision correction treatment clinics. The Visx Star S4 IR excimer laser system allows for over 1,200 micro readings of a patient’s prescription, in contrast to traditional methods where only three points of prescription are measured. 99% of patients with the most commonly-treated prescriptions achieve 20/20 vision or better at Optical Express.*
