Leading national eye care provider, Optical Express is opening a new laser eye surgery consultation and aftercare clinic in Horsham, West Sussex due to high patient demand in the area.
The clinic, based in the town’s Swan Walk Shopping Centre, will be open for those seeking laser eye surgery advice and aftercare.
Previously, locals would have travelled ten miles to the next town of Crawley to access the services, but with the arrival of the new clinic in the heart of Horsham town centre, both consultations and aftercare are now available right on their doorstep.
Tom Thorne, Regional Manager for Optical Express said:
“We’re delighted to be opening a site in Horsham after a great deal of interest from the local residents. With laser eye surgery in such high demand, we can truly offer a first class service to patients by caring for them before and afterwards back in Horsham.
“The new Optical Express clinic in Horsham is an exciting venture and the staff are highly experienced and fully equipped to provide a first class service for patients of all ages.”
With a population of over 55,000, the town was identified as having a strong requirement for such services at a time when people are experiencing poorer eyesight at a younger age due to the rise in popularity of smartphones and tablets as well as hectic lifestyles.
According to the latest data, the popularity of these devices is contributing to a poor vision time-bomb – yet more than 20% of UK adults do not know that they should have eye-tests every two years and over one in six (17%) of people have either never been to an optician or haven’t been in the last three years.
Recent figures released by the College of Optometrists revealed that although 70% of parents considered sight tests as ‘very important’ for their children’s health, a quarter of parents (25%) admitted their child has never had an eye test.
