Optical Express in Newton Mearns will be opening its doors this Sunday and providing free eye tests and designer glasses for children between the hours 11am-4pm. The leading eye care provider, not normally open on Sundays, will be performing the examinations in an effort to raise awareness around the importance of regular eye tests for children.
Currently there are up to 1 million children in the UK with undetected vision problems and as many as one in five children will have an unknown eye condition.
To help raise awareness, Optical Express aim to test as many children’s eyes as possible as part of The Avenue’s fun day for children. As well as eye examinations, there will also be a cartoonist on site for caricatures.
Amanda Chaudhry of Optical Express said:
“We’re really looking forward to The Avenue’s fun day on Sunday and hope to get as many children along as possible. As children sometimes struggle to articulate the vision problems they are experiencing, it’s really important for them to have regular eye tests. Their eye examinations and glasses are free in store so we’re hoping for a big turnout.”
