Optical Express was delighted to support a deserving charitable foundation as it held its second annual festival in memorial of a young footballer who tragically passed away three years ago.
The Kieran McDade Foundation was set up when 13-year old Kieran suffered a cardiac arrest during football training for Coatbridge-based Dunbeth FC, tragically passing away a week later. The foundation raises money to donate defibrillators to local teams, as having access to the equipment may have saved Kieran’s life.
The Kieran McDade Festival took place over the weekend of August 3rd and 4th 2019 at Dunbeth Park, Coatbridge. As well as featuring a football tournament, young players from teams across Scotland were also educated in first aid and resuscitation by Paramedics.
Optical Express supported the event by providing vouchers to the value of £200 for the raffle.
To date, the Kieran McDade Foundation has donated over 80 defibrillators to a host of junior football teams across Scotland and will continue to raise money to fund further purchases of the equipment.
