Optical Express is proud to support local and national charities as part of our sustained effort to give back to the community, most recently donating a treatment voucher to the inaugural Michael Josephson MBE 2018 Annual Ball.
The ball, in its first year, was organised and run by Michael Josephson MBE and held at Manchester’s Hilton Deansgate Hotel on Saturday 30th June. Stars including Lulu performed.
Michael’s story is harrowing, yet full of inspiration. Suffering from abuse and bullying in his childhood, he tried to end his life aged 20 by jumping from a bridge. Incredibly, he survived and decided that he wanted to help other young people. After setting up his own business, Michael has today raised millions for numerous charities.
Optical Express, the UK’s complete eye care provider, donated a voucher for treatment worth up to £6000 for laser eye surgery for an auction held on the evening. The voucher helped Michael raise an amazing £256,900 on the night. The money will be donated to Variety – The Children’s Charity, the Seashell Trust, and the Frost Foundation. In previous years, Michael has also auctioned Optical Express prizes to raise money for Childline and has raised over £3.4 million for the charity.
