Part 2
Part 2 of our helpful guide will answer some of your questions.
It’s a wonderful world.
We’ll help you see it that way.
5. Are there any risks with laser eye surgery?
Laser eye surgery has been successful for millions of patients across the world, but as with any surgery, there are some risks. These will be explained at your consultation and in your consent documents. Millions of people across the globe have undergone laser eye treatment, and it’s the most popular lective surgery there is. The vast majority of patients experience no problems at all.
6. How much does laser eye surgery cost?
You can receive laser eye surgery from as little as £595 per eye†, although everyone’s eyes are different and a number of factors can affect the cost of laser eye surgery.
At your initial consultation we will be able to provide you with an exact fee.
7. What is involved in the
aftercare & recovery process?
At Optical Express, aftercare is not an afterthought. We believe your treatment after surgery is just as important as the procedure itself. You can enjoy peace of mind and feel reassured that you will receive an excellent treatment through our outstanding post-operative aftercare programme.
After laser eye treatment, it’s completely normal to experience some discomfort in your eyes and this varies between patients and how they heal. After LASIK, your eyes will feel uncomfortable and watery for the first 24 hours (a week with LASEK) and will be light sensitive for a few days. We recommend going home wearing sunglasses or goggles (we’ll give you a pair to take away with you). You can expect the whites of your eyes to look red for a few days after the procedure. You’ll probably experience improved vision within a day or two of the treatment, though full recovery can take up to a week.
You’ll be required to attend follow up appointments with one of our refractive ophthalmologists 24 hours after your treatment and also appointments at 1 month and 3 months post-surgery. This is to ensure your recovery is progressing as it should be.
