Jodie struggled with her glasses for years before finally deciding to opt for laser eye surgery when she started training as a midwife. Having to wear face coverings throughout her 13-hour shifts meant that her glasses would continuously steam up, and this started to impact on her work.

“I’m training as a midwife now, so especially with what’s going on with Covid-19 it has been a nightmare. My glasses are steaming up all the time, so trying to deliver a baby isn’t the easiest thing to do. That’s the main reason I went with laser eye surgery,” she explains.

Jodie’s mother had previously had laser eye surgery, and so reassured her ahead of her surgery appointment: “My mum had said ‘It’s fine, it’s not that bad!’. Jodie is now delighted with her results and was surprised to find that her vision had already massively improved within just 24 hours after surgery. She is looking forward to returning to work and is relieved to know that she won’t have to worry about her glasses steaming up anymore. “Delivering babies and actually being able to see properly what I’m doing, I think that’s the main thing I’m looking forward to,” she says.
