Laser Eye SurgeryJuly 2021
Wearing glasses since she was 14, Sophie found that they had become more and more of an inconvenience in her day-to-day life. Relying on them during lectures at university and for tasks such as driving and watching television, she would often end up having to wear her glasses all throughout the day. Growing increasingly tired of the hassle and discomfort, and keen to choose a more environmentally-friendly vision correction solution than contact lenses, Sophie finally decided to opt for laser eye surgery at Optical Express.
“It got to a point where I was wearing them 24/7, and I think they are just an inconvenience. Here is an example, I went out a couple of weeks ago, forgot my glasses, it got dark and I couldn’t drive home. I had to get my mum to come and drop my glasses off because I couldn’t drive home without them. It’s just such an inconvenience,” she explains. Not wanting to opt for contact lenses due to their detrimental impact on the environment, she decided that laser eye surgery was the way forward: “It’s just plastic all the time and I think we’ve got to be more environmentally friendly, especially these days.”
Feeling slightly nervous when she arrived for treatment, Sophie was relieved to find that staff members at our Liverpool clinic made her feel very much at ease throughout the entire process. Describing it as a ‘nice experience’, she was delighted with the support she received from her surgeon: “He was telling me when the laser had started, he was talking me through it, which I prefer because I like to know how long is left and what’s happening, I like to know things.” Waking up the next morning, she was shocked at how instant the results of her surgery had been, as she was already able to read registration plates and the TV guide.
Sophie is relieved to know that she won’t have to struggle with glasses any longer. “I’m going shopping after this, and I’m usually like, “What shop is that?”, “What shop is that?”. So yeah, just to be able to live a normal life without having to worry about these things,” she says. Delighted with the results of her treatment, she wouldn’t hesitate to recommend laser eye surgery at Optical Express to others struggling with glasses or contact lenses: “They’ve made my experience so relaxing and enjoyable. I woke up and I was excited to get out of bed this morning. I was like, I’m excited to go and look at things and get in the car and see if I can see things. Yeah, I would recommend coming here to anyone.”
