Laser Eye SurgeryAugust 2023
“I need to have clear vision to give them the quality care they need.” NHS nurse Ethereal tells us, capturing the heart of our 'Thanks a Million' campaign and the Optical Express philosophy.
Quality patient care is the priority in everything we do, so we understand the importance of eliminating the challenges that threaten the quality of this care.
Ethereal took the ‘why not?’ approach to our campaign advertisement and applied for her chance to receive a free vision correction procedure – a small decision that had a life-changing impact.
Our fantastic clinical team in London Harley Street captured the patient-centred care we are so passionate about during Ethereal’s time in our operating theatre. She shares with us that the team talked to her every step of the way, complimenting her Surgeon Mr Sajjad Mughal as engaging, helpful and well informed – with his sense of humour helping her feel relaxed throughout the surgery.
Pleased with our aftercare process, Ethereal felt her expectations were set and she understood clearly how to care for her new sight post-procedure.
When we asked how her sight was the morning following her surgery: “Everything was just clear and I’m so happy. I don’t have to worry about fogging my eyeglasses while wearing a mask and it just makes my work performance better. It’s life-changing.”
Optical Express first launched the ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign in 2017, donating £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery to NHS and Emergency Service workers. Since the relaunch in 2023 Optical Express have donated another £1 million worth of laser eye surgery as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who work tirelessly every day to help safeguard our communities.
