Laser Eye SurgeryAugust 2023
George, a doctor from Hampshire, recently joined us for his LASIK iDesign procedure at our Optical Express clinic in Leeds. Under the care of Mr Kazmi, a reputable ophthalmic surgeon with over 30 years’ experience, George received free laser eye surgery as part of the ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign.
From paediatric surgery to eye examinations, good vision is a critical component of George’s role. Working night shifts with contact lenses or inserting cannulas with his glasses falling down his face was uncomfortable and sometimes embarrassing.
As a medical professional, he appreciated the surgeon’s thorough explanation of the process and risks; we were equally grateful for his review of our clinic as “very efficient” with “brilliant” staff.
Whilst finding the operation itself a “bit scary” and the natural discomfort that can be felt having your eyes so closely examined – Gary was very happy with his experience.
When asked if he would recommend opting for laser eye surgery at Optical Express to friends and family, George is firm in his conviction that there is “definitely no reason not to”.
It is the second time that Optical Express has chosen to thank NHS and Emergency Service workers in this way. In 2017, we launched our first ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign which saw us give away £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery. Over the course of the two campaigns more than £2 million worth of surgery will improve the everyday lives of NHS and Emergency Service workers.
Since Optical Express was founded 33 years ago, the team are proud to have supported hundreds of humanitarian and philanthropic projects, donating over £33 million and counting to worthwhile causes in the UK and abroad.
