Laser Eye SurgeryJuly 2023
NHS nurse Jocelyn wore glasses and contact lenses from the age of 8, that was until the Optical Express ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign provided an alternative – laser eye surgery and clear vision from here on out! Jocelyn was amongst hundreds of NHS and Emergency Service workers who were thanked in this way for the vital services they provide to the public; she was “over the moon” to be selected.
Night shifts and long hours were common as part of Jocelyn’s role in previous years, with reduced sleep and sore, tired eyes being part of her daily life. Jocelyn highlights an often unspoken burden of her contact lens subscription; at £30-40 a month, the convenient option of contact lenses has a less convenient price tag.
UK Medical Director Dr David Teenan carried out the procedure and the surgery team in Jocelyn’s local clinic in Glasgow, where she felt the team were incredibly well-informed and friendly, in addition to her consultation to procedure time being minimal. Jocelyn shares, “I would recommend Optical Express to any friends and family.”
First launched in 2017, the Optical Express ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign donated £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery to NHS and Emergency Service workers. Rekindled in 2023, the campaign expressed gratitude with an additional £1 million allocation for laser eye surgery. It serves as a heartfelt acknowledgement and appreciation for the unwavering contribution and incredible service of NHS and Emergency Service workers.
Since Optical Express was founded 34 years ago, the team are proud to have supported hundreds of humanitarian and philanthropic projects, donating over £33 Million and counting to worthwhile causes in the UK and abroad.
