Laser Eye SurgeryAugust 2023
Police officer Leo is one of the successful applicants of the Optical Express ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign. He was given free laser eye surgery at our flagship clinic in Glasgow, as a celebration of the hard work of NHS and Emergency Service workers across the UK.
From reading number plates to chasing perpetrators and navigating dark Glasgow evenings; in his role as a police officer, good vision is essential. Dropping or losing his glasses in these instances can put him at risk.
After seeing the ad on social media, it was “happy days” for Leo when he was chosen to have his sight improved with Optical Express’ innovative iDesign LASIK treatment.
Only a day after his surgery, he tells us he can see a “huge difference”, already able to read road signs without any visual aid. Leo praises the team’s professionalism, feeling well informed about what to expect from his surgeon.
When asked if he would recommend laser eye surgery to his colleagues, Leo says: “100% I would recommend it.”
It is the second time that Optical Express have chosen to thank NHS and Emergency Service workers in this way. In 2017, they launched their first ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign which saw them give away £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery. Over the course of the two campaigns more than £2 million worth of surgery will have improved the lives of NHS and Emergency Service workers.
Since Optical Express was founded 33 years ago, the team are proud to have supported hundreds of humanitarian and philanthropic projects, donating over £33 million and counting to worthwhile causes in the UK and abroad.
