Nicole thrives in the fast-paced world of the Accident and Emergency department. As a highly skilled Emergency Nurse, she provides expert care and unwavering support to patients in their most critical moments.
With 27 years of glasses wearing under her belt, her mind wandered to vision correction surgery multiple times throughout the years. “My vision has affected my career for sure,” Nicole shares with us. “You can’t always fix your glasses if you’re wearing gloves, or if you’re doing something that you don’t want to touch your face for.”
Like many with poor vision, she found contact lenses to be “uncomfortable” and would “hurt her eye all day”, so when she stumbled across the Optical Express 2023 ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign on Facebook, she took her shot and was rewarded with free laser eye surgery for her efforts.
Now, at her post-op consultation with better than 20/20 vision, she shares that she felt well-informed throughout the process: “I knew exactly what was going to happen, how I would feel. And I never felt that at any point that I was being, you know, pressured to go into this surgery without knowing a hundred percent that I wanted to do it.”
Following an easy journey to the clear vision she has always dreamed of, there will be no more wasted time fumbling with glasses or discomfort from contact lenses to distract from the critical patient care Nicole provides.
Optical Express first launched the ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign in 2017, donating £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery to NHS and Emergency Service workers. The campaign since relaunched in 2023 with Optical Express donating another £1 million worth of laser eye surgery as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who work tirelessly every day to help safeguard our communities.
