Laser Eye SurgeryJune 2023
Richard had LASIK iDesign as part of our Thanks a Million campaign where we donated another £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery to NHS and Emergency Service Workers.
Working as a charge nurse which involves a lot of acute cases, Richard would often struggle when performing tasks such as CPR as he would often have to adjust his glasses, “which is really a nuisance”.
Richard is an avid triathlete, he cycles, runs and swims a lot meaning he needs different prescription glasses for all three different disciplines. Richard commented that “It’s kind of difficult on my part, especially when I forget to bring my prescription goggles when I swim.”
We spoke to Richard after his laser eye surgery and he said that he would “100% recommend to go for it”. He now gets to do his job “more efficiently now” and he no longer needs to worry about visual aids when training/competing in a triathlon.
Richard described his vision after surgery as “absolutely perfect” and feels that this is now a real “game changer” for him.
It is the second time that Optical Express has chosen to thank NHS and Emergency Service workers in this way. In 2017, they launched their first ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign which saw them give away £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery. Over the course of the two campaigns more than £2 million worth of surgery will improve the lives of NHS and Emergency Service workers.
Since Optical Express was founded 33 years ago, the team are proud to have supported hundreds of humanitarian and philanthropic projects, donating over £33 million and counting to worthwhile causes in the UK and abroad.
