Laser Eye SurgeryAugust 2023
Police Officer Scott was one of our successful applicants to receive free laser eye surgery as part of our Thanks a Million campaign.
Working night shifts and doing lots of driving, looking at number plates and people, Scott was putting “quite a lot of strain” on his eyes due to his poor vision.
After doing some research into the Thanks a Million campaign, Scott decided to apply for the free laser eye surgery. Commenting that life without glasses or contact lenses would “make things a lot easier”.
The constant fear and worry Scott feels when wearing contact lenses at work consistently wondering “are my contact lenses going to fall out and then I won’t be able to see and defend myself”.
Constantly having headaches due to poor vision, Scott said that having laser eye surgery will “lead to a better work life balance, not having these headaches and tiredness”.
24 hours after his surgery, Scott was delighted to be able to wake up and see properly commenting that “there was no pain or discomfort, just felt great.”
It is the second time that Optical Express has chosen to thank NHS and Emergency Service workers in this way. In 2017, they launched their first ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign which saw them give away £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery. Over the course of the two campaigns more than £2 million worth of surgery will improve the lives of NHS and Emergency Service workers.
Since Optical Express was founded 32 years ago, the team are proud to have supported hundreds of humanitarian and philanthropic projects, donating over £33 million and counting to worthwhile causes in the UK and abroad.
