Laser Eye SurgeryJune 2023
Safety is the cornerstone of policing – as City of London Police Officer Zoe knows better than most. Risks are a part of the everyday for Emergency Services staff, when you combine poor vision with those daily duties it can make difficult situations that much more challenging.
As Zoe describes, "Getting into an altercation with my glasses and them flying off – I literally wouldn't be able to see anything." This constant concern would impact not only her daily tasks but also her career aspirations; several advancement courses have been unavailable to her throughout the years due to her poor vision.
Thankfully it is an obstacle she will now be able to overcome following her free laser eye surgery with Optical Express. In her own words, “I literally felt like I won the lottery. I may as well have just won the lottery!”
During her post-op consultation, she highlights the speed of the procedure, as well as the thoroughness and friendliness of surgeon Erik De Koning and the Dartford clinic team: “The team here are great. They even called me the day before my surgery just to wish me luck. I thought that was so cute!”
The procedure not only expands Zoe’s career prospects, it increases the safety of herself, her colleagues and the public whilst on duty – allowing her to effectively provide the best possible service to the community.
Optical Express recognises the dedication and challenges faced by our Emergency Services and NHS personnel. Through initiatives like the "Thanks a Million" campaign, we're proud to offer free vision correction surgery, empowering officers like Zoe to excel in their roles and keep our communities safe.
