“I had worn glasses and contact lenses since I was about 16, so probably about 18 years or so.
Wearing glasses and contact lenses affected my everyday working life. The winters in Scotland mean that it gets very cold. There have been times when I’ve been working outside and then had run into a house to break up a fight - suddenly your glasses steam up, and it can be quite a dangerous situation.

‘In July 2017, we launched our campaign to say ‘Thanks a Million’ to NHS and emergency service workers. The initiative followed a national survey commissioned by Optical Express, which found that people who dedicate their lives to public service 'are most deserving of our thanks'. As a result, we pledged to give away £1 million of laser eye surgery by way of thanks.
